 Re: Anifics Debugging And Comments
Also, message editted as board currently seems to have a 'no double posting allowed' feature set on. Lame!
I complained about that too before I got staff status that allowed me to bypass the restriction. I figure that most folks here are sensible about such things, though, so I've disabled that restriction. I believe a "common sense" approach is better than locking things down.

 Re: Anifics Debugging and Comments
Heh... while I'm primarily a programmer, and a decent analyst as well, it is at times like this I wish I both had more time and was more of a web programmer, not a client/server one. Oh well... It as they say pays the bills for me, and I'd want the market far more stable before I even think of switching.
I'm actually an English major and not a programmer — I wouldn't be able to code something from scratch if my life depended on it. Disclaimer notwithstanding, I do fairly well in analyzing and modifying existing code. It's all logic, after all.
Hey... don't suppose you know a fix for
1. The unstable edit box window under IE8 for longer posts would you? it is in both Icy Phoenix, and on PHPbb based forums, upon which Icy Phoenix is based.
2. The fact the word wrap on the thread view barely makes it 2/3 across the wide 15.4" screen on my notebook in 1280 by 800 view. PHPbb, VBulletin, and Invision forums all correctly go to end of screen before wrapping around. Though a similar issue did exist for me in the old Beehive forums.
I'll look into it and see what can be done. The word wrap thing might be difficult to duplicate since I don't have that screen size, though. It could be that Icy Phoenix is using fixed width values instead of fluid ones. Hmm...

My HWEGLY wide screen has massive space on each side. I like it. I don't want really long lines of text.

 Re: Anifics Debugging And Comments
Ok. I'll start by saying that I'm really likening the feel of the forums but I've run into a couple of things that I think aren't working properly.
First: A line is crossing vertically some quotes. It seems to be at random as I've loaded one page thrice only appeared once but in another page were I tried the same it appeared twice in different posts. Not that it bothers too much as making that post go out of the screen and then returning make it disappear.
Second: It isn't really that it isn't working properly but that I found it weird to have the buttons to post a new reply and to move through the pages under the links to similar topics. I don't think it makes much sense as I had to remind me twice that this topic was five pages long (at least in the standard configuration).
Edit: Is there a way to make the search for new posts to not include mine? After all I wrote them so I know what they say.

1: What browser so I can test.
2: I'm actually wanting to move the paging directly under the last post as soon as I figure out it's not possible via the admin tools I'll hard edit all the themes to fix it so probably this sunday.
3: I don't think so... I'll look but I'm pretty sure it just flags all news posts

Perhaps if it was made a user selectable option as to whether to use full width or not? For me the 1st one is the more impotrant of the two.
One more:
If I click on the new button to see the updated threads, and then click on a link to a updated thread, it takes me to the top post of the last page of the thread, not actually the newest posts... So I then have to page down to the new posts, or hit ctrl-end and pgup to them...

2:Good luck with it.
3: thanks anyway.

1: Not going to happen so please try a different theme there is one that fully expands on my 1920x1080 monitor and one that leaves spaces on the sides please use the correct one if you which to not have spaces. They are different a little on color and some other things but they're not that different.
2: I've noticed this but I'm not sure I how the code works if it's simple to fix or not but I'll look at it sunday.

1: Please update to 3.5.4 and try and duplicate if you can but I will still look into it this Sunday on the other hand I will not try to debug firefox 2 since it's two versions out of date and no longer receiving security updates plus lolifox is no longer under active development from what I can see it was last updated in May of 2008. Sorry. The only browsers I will make an effort to support are IE8, Opera 10, Webkit 522+, and Firefox 3.5.
3: I'm gonna try and mod this when I can it's annoying me also.

Ah... I just discovered the post wrapping issue is specific to IE8. Opera does not wrap the post view window the same way. In IE8 the other themes did not make a difference. Pity.
I guess I'll live with it.

There's your problem. Why in the hell are you using IE? Use firefox like the rest of us.

IE is worlds more reliable than any version of FireFox I've tried.
3.0.4 was the last version that will ever be installed by me. For years I used it as a backup browser. After years of dealing with annoying and quirky crap, the last straw was them breaking the bookmark manager. It should not take 15 minutes to import favorites from IE to FireFox. Especially when Opera takes less than 10 seconds for the same thing.
I now refuse to put FireFox on any computer I own. I use Opera as a backup and secondary browser now. It does a decent enough job.

You must of had the worlds worst luck with Firefox it's by far the best browser on the market right now follow by chrome and opera with IE being dead last. I personally never code for or support IE based web code because of it's piss poor standards support while IE8 is better it's still dead last on supported standards. Use Opera or Chrome for best results on any anifics site.

Yeah, same here. I've NEVER had any problems with firefox, except when my old computer was just being old, slow, and shitty, but that was a problem with WinXP, not firefox itself.

 Re: Anifics Debugging and Comments
Shrugs... to each their own... Personally I can't figure how so many seem to like it, with all the crap I used to have to deal with. It can't be the upgrade to 3.5.x. I've heard more complaints about it than all past versions combined.
