Title: Wake Me Up
Chapter One: Bumping Heads ( And Saying Goodbye )
 
Synopsis: SerenaXDarien fic. All their lives they've teased each other, but deep down inside they had an attraction toward one another. They came close to acting upon their feelings, but then Darien suddenly goes to America, because of his dying Aunt. Saying goodbye was awkward, and depressing. Serena waits for his return to make her move, then 3 years later he comes back. Will things still be the same?

Darien - 16 years of age
Serena and the gang - 14 years of age

"Hmmm....today is such a wonderful day." Serena said while skipping. She was very happy that today was half day. So school wouldn't be that long.
 
Serena looked at the sky, and realized how beautiful it really was. Before she would go to school she would take a while to just look around and get her head around things. Serena then headed to Amy's house.
 
-Ring-
 
Amy opens the door.
 
"Oh hey Serena!" Amy said.
 
"What's up?" Serena asked.
 
Amy closed the door behind her. Her and Serena started to walk to school. Then her cell phone rang.
 
"Oh, excuse me Serena" Amy told Serena.
 
While Amy was on the phone, she seemed really occupied, worried and she was also walking away from Serena.
 
"Alright, Amy, I'll be at the arcade for just a bit. You seem like you need to be alone, plus we have plenty of time. Okay?" Serena said.
 
"Y-e-s-ss" Amy said unsure.
 
Serena knew what it was about. Amy was going to be transferred out of St. Mark School, and into some smart school. She didn't want to bother Amy anymore than she already had. To Amy studies were everything, sometimes it would seem that friends meant nothing. But Serena knew better, and just thought Amy needed space.
 
"Gosh...it's only our first year. Oh Amy!" Serena whined.
 
-BOOM-
 
"Ouch!" Serena yelled.
 
"Watch it meatball head!" Darien screamed.
 
"Oh..it's just you. You annoying little piece of shit!" Serena told off Darien.
 
"Whatever, meatball head. You really outta say sorry to me" Darien smirked.
 
"What?! why in the world would I do something stupid like that?" Serena asked.
 
"You know why. If you don't say sorry, I'll never speak to you. And I know you love talking to me!" Darien said and then took off his shades.
 
Serena blushed, but she tried to hide it.
 
"Serena...don't try to hide your face. I can tell you like me flirting with you." Darien flirted.
 
"W-e-e-ll, you know what you think to highly of yourself. So BUZZ OFF!" Serena yelled.
 
Serena stomped off inside the arcade, and Darien followed.
 
"Why do you keep following me?" Darien asked.
 
"Excuse me?!...But I came inside first. It's you who followed. You are so damn annoying. I wish I never met you!" Serena told him off.
 
Darien was hurt. Each and every day, he would get told off by Serena. He was sad every time Serena would say something rude to him, but it was all worth it. As long as he could talk to her.
 
"Shut up! Serena, I would never follow you. You are too ugly, fat and stupid for me to even want to be near you. God, you think you are the only one that wishes we never met?!" Darien screamed at her.
 
Andrew came up behind him. He was shocked at what Darien said.
 
"Hey you guys, what's going on?" Andrew asked.
 
"...you-you--..." Serena tried to speak.
 
She was heart broken. She couldn't even find the right words to say, she could barely speak. Inside her head, all she kept thinking about was the fact that for sure there was no way they could be together. She had a small crush on Darien ever since their eyes met a year ago. Then she dropped her knapsack and ran out of the arcade.
 
"Oh no, Serena..WAIT!" Darien yelled.
 
He couldn't believe the rude things he called her. He thought that she would take it as a joke, but he took it too far this time. So he picked up her bag, and ran after her.
 
"Those two..."Andrew thought. He knew that they liked each other. But he just didn't understand why they just wouldn't 'fess up, and be together.
 
"I can't believe it...oh Darien. I hate him so much. Why would he say that. I thought.." Serena cried and walked to school.
 
She picked up her phone, and tried to call Amy. She wanted to tell her to just go straight to school since she wasn't at the arcade anymore. Amy wouldn't answer.
 
Serena kept running and then tripped, luckily Darien caught her.
 
"What in the world do you want Shields?" Serena asked.
 
"...You..umm...dropped you knapsack" Darien answered.
 
"Fuck you!" Serena screamed.
 
"Look, why are you taking me seriously anyways. I was just joking around. That's what we do? Don't you remember. I don't even get why you are crying, why would you care what a stupid guy like me says?" Darien questioned.
 
Serena wanted to shout out ' BECAUSE I LOVE YOU! '. But she was to afraid to get rejected.
 
"What you said really hurt my feelings. You made me feel really ugly" Serena confessed.
 
"Serena, you are not ugly. You're really pretty. So cheer up, and please forget what I said" Darien tried to comfort her.
 
Serena couldn't believe it. First of all he didn't say meatball head, but actually Serena. And second of all, he said she was pretty.
 
"You think I'm pretty?" Serena asked impatiently.
 
"Meatball head, you know you are beautiful. You don't need me telling you so." Darien explained.
 
Serena was tomato red. Was she dreaming?
 
"SERENA!" a distant voice yelled.
 
"Oh it's Amy...HEY AMY!" Serena screamed.
 
Then Amy came closer, and realized that Serena had tears all over her face.
 
"What happened, why were you crying?” Amy asked.
 
"Don't worry about" Serena re-assured her everything was okay.
 
"Well, let's start walking to school. I have something big to tell you and the others" Amy said.
 
"Alright, umm..." Serena said then looked over at Darien. She wished Amy didn't come at all so they could continue their conversation.
 
"Yeah, okay. Anyways, Bye. And Serena?" Darien said.
 
"Yeah, what is it?" Serena asked.
 
"...I'm sorry" Darien apologized then walked off.
 
Serena couldn't believe it, Darien actually apologized.
 
Serena and Amy started to walk to school.
 
( At St. Mark's )
 
"Serena, Amy. Saved you guys a seat!" Lita shouted.
 
"You text messaged me Amy, what's the big news?" Rei asked.
 
"I'm leaving St. Mark's..." Amy answered.
 
"WHAT?!" Mina screamed.
 
"Amy, where are you transferring to?" Lita asked.
 
"George Brown" Amy replied.
 
"Amy, I'm going to miss you so much!" Mina said.
 
"Yeah, definitely. We'll have after school and weekends too right? Rei questioned.
 
"Yeah, that's the thing. The school is really strict. They've added two more hours to the normal school hours. And.. well it's pretty far away. I'm going to have to bus there, which means an hour of busing. I won't be home til 6 at night. And the homework..I'll probably never get any sleep" Amy explained to everyone.
 
"Amy, we'll still have the weekends, right?" Rei questioned the second part again.
 
"..Maybe..depends if I take any courses that require weekends." Amy said sadly.
 
"Serena, why are you so quiet?" Lita asked.
 
"Amy, good luck. And best wishes!" Serena tried to put on a smile.
 
"Thank you" Amy answered.
 
Serena was saddened by the news. She knew this was going to happen. She was frightened at the same time. Out of everyone in the gang, Amy was the one who set things straight. Her knowledge was amazing. Serena feared that without her everyone would be lost, especially herself.
 
The day went on by. Rei, Mina,Lita, and Serena were very depressed and couldn't believe that a dear friend of theirs was leaving. They planned a good-bye party.
 
At Rei's Temple
 
"So who should we invite?" Rei asked.
 
"Well definitely Sean. He is do dreamy!" Mina was always boy crazy.
 
"Umm..I think it should just be close friends. This party will be very emotional" Lita explained.
 
"Yes, I know. We should invite Andrew and Darien though. They are like brothers to Amy." Rei explained.
 
"Well, Rei. We don't know why you want Andrew, but we all know you have a crush on Darien! And don't try to deny it!" Mina shouted.
 
Rei only blushed.
 
Serena then just came in.
 
"Hey you guys, sorry I'm late" Serena apologized.
 
"Okay, well right now we are discussing who we are going to invite" Lita said.
 
"Oh..well s who are we inviting?" Serena asked.
 
"Andrew...and oh yeah. Darien!" Mina answered.
 
'..Darien...' Serena then remembered what had happened in the morning. She was so depressed, but then he came to chase her and apologize. She was inlove with him. Ofcourse, no one knew about it. Not even her friends.
