dog day darkness --- 12 april 2000 nikholas "katana" f. toledo i haven't been writing poetry for some time now, as you can see by this one --- the format's weird, the length is off and the subject matter isn't so nice at all. even so, i think i should take a break from my summer break! don't ask me why i wound up writing something this broody in such nice (albeit hot and humid) sunny weather. maybe it's my perverse side acting up. yo, mara jade, this one's yours! night hangs low hangs hard hangs silent. coldly gazing impassive eyes stars shine merciless stilled . . . . wan and lifeless and pallid the world is a sickly-white wash of corpse-light the shadows are dead secrets laid bare, harsh unmasking no refuge, and hunters every step of the way the worst is yet to come . . . . darkness falls hope wears its mask of life snuffed out and the call to madness reverberates danse macabre, the final dirge, siren song of the eternal void cry as you can try as you might plead as you will none to heed but uncaring night . . . .
