The more I use this interface, the more I like it. The info-overload thing will have to be dealt-with, but over all, this is vastly superior to SMF. If anyone's been to the DLP, I'm thinking of instituting a similar "Library" system like they have, where fic recq.s go on one board, and while you can post reviews and rate the threads on the other boards in the library, you can't create threads there, only moderators can move threads with a sufficiently high rating into them.

Re: Sample News Post In Portal

The more I play around with this, the more I'm liking it as well. Icy Phoenix seems uniquely suited to developing a [i]community[/i] and not just serve as a forum. The feature set also seem ideal for what Anifics is and aims to be. My only complaint (which isn't actually a complaint, really) is that I don't like the default theme. That should be easy enough to change, though.

I actually really like the theme. It looks really nice to me. I like all this round, shinyness.

To each their own, I guess. The monochromatic paleness makes it look a bit washed out, to me. I think I'd prefer something with a bit more contrast — like one of these themes: [url=http://www.icyphoenix.com/styles/styles.php?cat_id=ip&style_id=aphrodite_cyan]1, [url=http://www.icyphoenix.com/styles/styles.php?cat_id=ip&style_id=white_pearl]2, [url=http://www.icyphoenix.com/styles/styles.php?cat_id=ip&style_id=floreal]3 — but I can work with this current one.

Re: Sample News Post In Portal

Okay, couple of problems.

1. For some reason, I am unable to view links posted in this forum, even those I've posted myself. In place of the link, I see the following message: "You must be registered to view this link." Needless to say, I am already registered and logged in. Note that this doesn't seem to affect URLs posted to the forum, only formatted links.

2. I am unable to change or delete my avatar (and possibly make other changes to my profile). When I try, I get an error message saying that "Your Gender is required on this site." Putting in my gender would probably fix it, but really, it shouldn't be a requirement in the first place.

3. Something is stretching the forum home page horizontally. Other parts of the site are fine as far as I can see, it's only the forum home page that's affected. Update: Apparently it's only happening in Chrome and Safari. The site looks fine in Firefox 3.5 and IE8.

Edit: Okay, I broke and set gender. It still shouldn't be a requirement, though.

Huh. For some reason it's impossible to un-set the gender settings. You can switch it, but not un-set it. Strange. And that's even though gender information is no longer required (yep, the asterisk's gone). Hmm...

Well, what's done is done. Even if it turns out that I can't turn it off, it's not worth getting all apoplectic about it. Just thought I'd mention it due to privacy concerns.

On the other issues, it seems I still can't see links posted in the forum. That's rather strange since the error message tells me that I [i]should[/i] see them. :?

I would have addressed that issue with my last post, but I was five minutes away from class, so I had to log-off and go to class instead. Give Sol and me some time to look through the settings. I'm sure there's probably just some box checked, or radio button selected, or some permission set accidentally that causes that. If it's a problem with the forum software itself, then Sol will drop a message to the people at Icy Phoenix.

Once again, I apologize about the gender thing. m(_ _)m

Thanks!

I don't have photo-shop, just paint, so they kind of suck, visually. Anyone with photo-shop here who can get rid of the black backgrounds? Better yet, any aspiring developers might consider going to http://www.defenselink.mil/specials/insignias/officers.html and http://www.defenselink.mil/specials/insignias/enlisted.html , copying the images and cleaning them up from there. The key is that the background should be transparent, if possible (I'm not sure how that crap works, or if it's even possible), it should look nice, and the height cannot be more than 40 pixels. If you can keep it looking nice and get it down to 20 pixels, that would be awesome.
[/quote]

I've spent the better part of last night looking for just such images so I can tinker with the badges. I'm no graphic artist by any means, but I can make do. I'll see what I can do with the images.

Oh, and seeing as how the new site's gone live, I guess this will be my last post here. See you on the other side! :D[/quote]

I think I found a solution to the link-view problem.

[quote]Turn off "Precompiled posts": ACP -> Configuration -> Icy Phoenix -> Posting & Messages -> Disable Precompiled Posts: YES, then empty the cache.[/quote]

For the stretched forum page, since it only seems to appear on Webkit-based browsers (eg. Chrome, Safari), I going to need to dig deeper, perhaps install Icy Phoenix and this theme on a local machine. Thank goodness for Chrome's developer tools, though, as it makes debugging a whole lot easier. :)

Re: Sample News Post In Portal

Okay, I found out where the problem was regarding the forum home page stretching issue. It seems the problem lies with the "Recent topics" scrolling marquee at the bottom of the forum home page. The thing is, to fix it you'll need to edit the template. Here's how:

Go to ACP > Styles & Templates > Styles Management. Scroll down and click "edit templates". Select the "default" directory, then scroll down and look for "index_body.tpl". Click edit.

Find:
[code linenumbers=false]<marquee id="recent_topics" behavior="scroll" direction="left" width="90%"[/code]

Replace with:
[code linenumbers=false]<marquee id="recent_topics" behavior="scroll" direction="left" width="750px"[/code]

You can probably set width to 800px, but 750px is the safer number, IMHO.

Oh, and I believe Icy Phoenix allows you to split topics. Maybe the bug reports stuff should be separated into its own thread. In fact, I should have started this in its own thread in the first place. Sorry for that. :(

I on regular occasions change my birthday (normally moth and day, not year) on forums I am a member of, just so people are not noting it or giving congradulations.

EDIT: Ok, I am logged in, I can edit messages (like this one), but every link still states the following:

Incidentally, PC, If you'd like to make threads with your lists - however you generate them, I wouldn't mind if you did. The specific posting format for the nominations forum is just for the library. I'm certainly not going to penalize you for your own threads with your own lists. I'm thinking that maybe I should create a special forum just for that, since you tend to make new ones every once in a while.

I think you can set your birthday to private so that no one can view it. As for having it as a registration requirement, well, considering that Anifics has a NC-17 section, I figure that requiring birthday info is relatively reasonable.

Nah, it's something the admins will have to do. As I posted earlier, the solution is the following:

[quote]Turn off "Precompiled posts": ACP > Configuration > Icy Phoenix > Posting & Messages -> Disable Precompiled Posts: YES, then empty the cache.[/quote]

It should be a relatively safe procedure, but Rin prefers to let Sol do it. Speaking of which, is Sol aware of this issue?

AFAIK, the "new" post tracker only counts the amount of new posts made since you last visited the forum. Either that, or it only processes the relevant statistics after a set interval (eg. it updates only ever X number of minutes). But don't quote me on that...

I on regular occasions change my birthday (normally moth and day, not year) on forums I am a member of, just so people are not noting it or giving congradulations.[/quote]

I think you can set your birthday to private so that no one can view it. As for having it as a registration requirement, well, considering that Anifics has a NC-17 section, I figure that requiring birthday info is relatively reasonable.

[quote user="PCHeintz72" post="32"]EDIT: Ok, I am logged in, I can edit messages (like this one), but every link still states the following:

"You must be registered to view this link"

So... do I have to set something in my profile?[/quote]

[quote user="PCHeintz72" post="36"]Hmmm... it also does not seem to be tracking where I've been or what viewed.

It is still noting the posts as new at top next to the new menu, but I've viewed them. Page refresh does not seem to have worked to clear them.[/quote]

AFAIK, the "new" post tracker only counts the amount of new posts made since you last visited the forum. Either that, or it only processes the relevant statistics after a set interval (eg. it updates only ever X number of minutes). But don't quote me on that...

Okay, I set it to what you said, and cleared the cache, and it didn't bring the forum to a crashing halt. Hraefn makes a good point, which is why I put the birthdays in the first place. I'm re-instituting it. Go in your profile settings and tell it to hide it if you don't want people seeing it.

As a FYI... the main RSS feed for the site works, but the ATOM feed link for the site does not.

At least, it did not come up in SharpReader, and it supports the FF.NET feeds, which are also ATOM not RSS based.

Not really a big deal I suppose, unless the person is using a ATOM only reader, but it means that at least one of the three feed links in the help for the site are broke.

[quote user="sitelord" post="1"]If you can read this Topic it seems that you have successfully installed your new Forum using [b]Icy Phoenix[/b]. You should now visit the Admin Control Panel to configure some Settings. In ACP you can set the main settings and preferences for the whole sites (styles, languages, time, forums, download, users, album, etc.) while in CMS section you can configure options regarding the site pages (define permissions, add blocks, create new pages, create new menu, etc.). You may also want to configure [b].htaccess[/b] and [b]lang_main_settings.php[/b] (for each installed lang) to fine tune some other preferences, like error reporting, url rewrite, keywords, welcome message, charset and so on. Since everything seems to work fine you are now free to delete this Topic, this Forum and also the Category.

I have an idea where the problem is. It seems like the Atom feed is having problems with the non-breaking space entity ( ) that appears in every quote. Hmm...

EDIT: Hah! I [i]think[/i] I finally got this stupid Atom feed issue sorted out. Like I mentioned earlier, the feed was breaking due to the non-breaking character entity. I've tried other hacks to the Atom feed template to allow it to use the entity, but they just broke the feed in other ways. So I got to thinking, if the feed won't accept , then why not just don't use it? Since the feed will accept , which is just the same as , I decided to use that instead.

Now, the problem with this fix is that it requires editing the bbcode parser, which you can find in "includes/bbcode.php". Open up that file in a code editor and search for every instance of [i] [/i] and replace them with [i] [/i]. Needless to say, backup the original bbcode.php file first before doing anything.

If you're not comfortable editing the bbcode.php file yourself, you can use the modified bbcode.php in the ZIP file attached to this post. If you want assurance that this fix works, check out the Atom feed in the demo Icy Phoenix install I set up: http://demo.hraefn.org/icy/rss.php?atom

-PS- When attempting to add a new post with the information above, I got an error message that said:

[quote]You are the last poster in this topic: you cannot write new posts within 24 hours from your last post unless someone else answers in the meantime.[/quote]

A limit is fine and I do think it is a good idea, however, 24 hours seems to be a bit excessive. 3-6 hours would be more appropriate, I think. The whole point of the limit would be to discourage spamming and needless thread bumping, and I think 3-6 hours would be enough for that. Spammers would be discouraged and would loose interest as soon as they discover that they're not able to post immediately, but the lessened limit would still allow valid thread bumps.

Hmm... speaking of thread bumps, I just realized that sometimes an author would need to split a story between several posts, especially if a chapter is longer than the post length limit. Perhaps it would be better to do away with the limit completely. It would mean that moderators may need to be more active, but a double post really isn't that big an offense. In the interest of community building, some leniency should be allowed.

Another item...

I just made a entry in the new section set up for me... It seems this forum has a upper limit on the number of links and bbcode that can be present in a post. Here are my notes from investigating that other post, and things I tried as a user to get around it.

[quote][b]Last Minute Edit for Mods: There seems to be a slight issue in the BBCode parse routine for the forum... At first it looked like it did not like some characters inside of the one link for Gatekeepers 1-2... So far, this is the only forum to have the issue, BYTM, TFF, AtoZ's Jovejournal, and a Offline BBCode editor (Kyrsoft BBed Offline BBcode Editor) all take that link and this whole post in stride. An attempt at correction by using one with XML filtering in it made no difference. It turns out this is not the case, it seems there is some upper amount of BBCode the forum can handle within a single post, as even removing the link does no good. Until resolved, I was going to post Text versions of the links, instead of the BBCode formatted ones I use elsewhere. However that did not fix the issue, since links are affected as well, even raw TXT ones.[/b][/quote]

EDIT: Any thoughts on increasing or fixing it?

Hmm... that's weird. I can't find any setting anywhere that limits the number of links or something like that. Or I could just be missing something — I'd already spent hours staring at code earlier — so I'll have a look at things again once I'm better rested. If the issue hasn't already been fixed by then, of course.

[quote user="Hraefn" post="28"]Okay, I found out where the problem was regarding the forum home page stretching issue. It seems the problem lies with the "Recent topics" scrolling marquee at the bottom of the forum home page. The thing is, to fix it you'll need to edit the template. Here's how:

Go to ACP > Styles & Templates > Styles Management. Scroll down and click "edit templates". Select the "default" directory, then scroll down and look for "index_body.tpl". Click edit.

Find:
[code linenumbers=false]<marquee id="recent_topics" behavior="scroll" direction="left" width="90%"[/code]

Replace with:
[code linenumbers=false]<marquee id="recent_topics" behavior="scroll" direction="left" width="750px"[/code]

You can probably set width to 800px, but 750px is the safer number, IMHO.

Oh, and I believe Icy Phoenix allows you to split topics. Maybe the bug reports stuff should be separated into its own thread. In fact, I should have started this in its own thread in the first place. Sorry for that. :([/quote]

Re: Welcome To Icy Phoenix
-----------------------------------
Thoughts? I really like the general look of the board, and it seems to have a lot of nice features.

I really do like having a personal album. That's a neat little feature.

Would be cool to have a 'personal fic recommendation' page (I thought there was one at first because of the Bookmarks section, but guess not, heh), where people can add links to fics they liked, and it's attached to their name, rather than the general Nominations/Recycle Bin forums which is a more broad recommendation. Assuming it's possible to implement anyhow.

Library section is kinda a nice resource, and seeing PCHeintz's list, could see just a general subforum section for Member Recommendations, as people might be looking for things specific people liked, rather than the general "so and so people must also like".

Also, big LOL at the sudoku section.

On the con side?

Icy Phoenix seems to run kinda-sorta....well SLOOOOW. Dunno how much of this is due to set-up implementation going on. Low-Fi version of the board is pretty lame looking too, but that's fast admittedly. Still lame to have to resort to that.

No image signatures? Tried linking from an outside board upload, still doesn't work, and it doesn't seem to be due to size either (tried even smaller image). Not a -horrible- loss, mind you, I've lived in plenty of boards without 'em, but still a bit sad not to see.

Auto-click load on pages annoys the fuck out of me. What I mean by that is that whenever you click on a link, it will always automatically load the new page, even if you're ctrl-clicking to get link open in a new tab, which theoretically should -not- open link in the current tab, as that's, y'know the whole POINT of ctrl-clicking for a new tab. GAAAAH!!! ...I see no place to take that feature off either.

I still remain a non-fan of ranks, and don't see a way to turn that visual marker off for myself. If other people like 'em and want to see 'em, since Rin did make some kinda nice ones, that's totally cool, but I'd really like to turn them off.

On the neutral side?

It's kinda a gripe, but it's so incredibly minor, that it's more neutral than anything. It seems odd to see the order of the boards being what it is. Author section is dead bottom, fanfic discussion right above it, fic recommendations above it, and non-fanfic stuff at the top. Generally, my mentality on board layout would be: Forum Support (Rules, announcements, support, report abuse), Fanfic Discussion, Author Section, Non-fanfic stuff, Library.

Unless the main point of the board is to serve as a link database for fanfics, Library stuff deserves to be at the bottom space. It's something people visit on the side, as an extra feature.

Similarly, for the library, as this is not a purely ranma board, I'm a bit hesitant to see Library organized by a general genre list, as opposed to by series. Admittedly, at this point, where there's not a necessarily accurate list of fandoms followed by board members, it might be for the best, although at some later point, I probably would encourage a change to a "by series" organization of the library.

Another thing is the presence of NC-17 sub-boards. While I can see the benefit of having it, since so many of fic readers are pervs, no denying that...at the same time, it does bug me a bit, since anifics never specifically had such sections in the past, and since they're just a click-away from access, means I'd be hesitant to visit these boards from work. I wonder if, for example, the newpost link outright includes links to active threads from those boards, and the like. If a boss ever felt like looking over my shoulder, or hell, outright looking at my history logs for web browsing, I don't exactly want something that says NC-17 to show up there.

On a totally different side?

What are the customization options for the header? Just the 300x100 logo? The top header background image? Any thoughts on what you want for the logo customization for Anifics? A ranma image or something else? Just some random thoughts for the possibility of making an anifics logo.

Personally, I don't really like image sigs but I do agree that they're part and parcel of most forums. So, images in sigs are now enabled. I do hope everybody keeps their image sigs sensible, though. Sig limits will be codified in the forum rules eventually.

[quote user="Hraefn" post="90"][quote user="mercforhire" post="83"]No image signatures? Tried linking from an outside board upload, still doesn't work, and it doesn't seem to be due to size either (tried even smaller image). Not a -horrible- loss, mind you, I've lived in plenty of boards without 'em, but still a bit sad not to see.[/quote]

Personally, I don't really like image sigs but I do agree that they're part and parcel of most forums. So, images in sigs are now enabled. I do hope everybody keeps their image sigs sensible, though. Sig limits will be codified in the forum rules eventually.

[quote user="mercforhire" post="83"]Auto-click load on pages annoys the fuck out of me. What I mean by that is that whenever you click on a link, it will always automatically load the new page, even if you're ctrl-clicking to get link open in a new tab, which theoretically should -not- open link in the current tab, as that's, y'know the whole POINT of ctrl-clicking for a new tab. GAAAAH!!! ...I see no place to take that feature off either.[/quote]

Fixed, I think. I've seen the same behavior in other phpBB forums, it's definitely a phpBB issue.[/quote]

I'll look into image sigs and get back to you all. As for the problem with links opening in new windows/tabs or in the current window/tab... What browser are you using I have FF 3.5 and if i read this right it does what you want maybe you coudl explain it in better detail and provide a location on the forum with a link you have trouble with and i can look into it.

The link issue is this: middle-clicking (or ctrl-click) on a link for a forum or thread will cause the link to open in a new tab (this is the expected behavior) [i]and[/i] will also open the link in the current tab (this is not the expected behavior). The problem here is that phpBB (on which Icy Phoenix is based on) wraps an onClick event listener around forum and thread links, causing pages to load in the current tab as well as the new tab. Actually removing the event listener would be difficult as it would require DB manipulation (the links, complete with the onclick attribute, are stored in the DB), as would preventing Icy Phoenix from making those kinds of links in the first place (which will need modification of the Icy Phoenix code).

I've tested and had the issue in the following browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox 3.5, and Internet Explorer 8.

By the way, the issue has been already been fixed, so you won't be able to duplicate it. My workaround was to use jQuery to essentially remove the onclick attributes from the offending sections without interfering with regular behavior.

Whee, awesome fast fixes, guys.

[b]EDIT: [/b]

Was messing around with the gallery function and uploaded a couple of various pics. Constraints seem to work, as I can't upload images bigger than that, have to resize/compress more to get them in. I -did- notice that we're not allowed to edit/delete our own uploads (Glad I chose non-hentai pics for testing the gallery function!!! :P ).

Also, message editted as board currently seems to have a 'no double posting allowed' feature set on. Lame!

Ok... I had to delete my cookies and cache to get back into the forum due to the change in main page link. Since I do that anyway around every day or so, I would have gotten in eventually.

However, under IE8, upon logging in now, and on every single page I've been to since, it has the warning errors icon next to done on the bottom task bar... so *something* is not quite correct yet.

I do not get any erros under Opera, but Opera does not display a page load status in the same way as IE.

Thoughts?

Fixed. The errors were caused by prototype.js and jQuery not playing nice with each other, had to change the code a little to prevent conflict. I see no more error prompts in IE8, but if you run into any, please let me know. Thanks! :)

Heh... while I'm primarily a programmer, and a decent analyst as well, it is at times like this I wish I both had more time and was more of a web programmer, not a client/server one. Oh well... It as they say pays the bills for me, and I'd want the market far more stable before I even think of switching.

EDIT: Hey... don't suppose you know a fix for

1. The unstable edit box window under IE8 for longer posts would you? it is in both Icy Phoenix, and on PHPbb based forums, upon which Icy Phoenix is based.

2. The fact the word wrap on the thread view barely makes it 2/3 across the wide 15.4" screen on my notebook in 1280 by 800 view. PHPbb, VBulletin, and Invision forums all correctly go to end of screen before wrapping around. Though a similar issue did exist for me in the old Beehive forums.

I complained about that too before I got staff status that allowed me to bypass the restriction. I figure that most folks here are sensible about such things, though, so I've disabled that restriction. I believe a "common sense" approach is better than locking things down.

Ok. I'll start by saying that I'm really likening the feel of the forums but I've run into a couple of things that I think aren't working properly.

First: A line is crossing vertically some quotes. It seems to be at random as I've loaded one page thrice only appeared once but in another page were I tried the same it appeared twice in different posts. Not that it bothers too much as making that post go out of the screen and then returning make it disappear.

Second: It isn't really that it isn't working properly but that I found it weird to have the buttons to post a new reply and to move through the pages under the links to similar topics. I don't think it makes much sense as I had to remind me twice that this topic was five pages long (at least in the standard configuration).

Edit: Is there a way to make the search for new posts to not include mine? After all I wrote them so I know what they say.

Perhaps if it was made a user selectable option as to whether to use full width or not? For me the 1st one is the more impotrant of the two.

One more:

If I click on the new button to see the updated threads, and then click on a link to a updated thread, it takes me to the top post of the last page of the thread, not actually the newest posts... So I then have to page down to the new posts, or hit ctrl-end and pgup to them...

IE is worlds more reliable than any version of FireFox I've tried.

3.0.4 was the last version that will ever be installed by me. For years I used it as a backup browser. After years of dealing with annoying and quirky crap, the last straw was them breaking the bookmark manager. It should not take 15 minutes to import favorites from IE to FireFox. Especially when Opera takes less than 10 seconds for the same thing.

I now refuse to put FireFox on any computer I own. I use Opera as a backup and secondary browser now. It does a decent enough job.

You must of had the worlds worst luck with Firefox it's by far the best browser on the market right now follow by chrome and opera with IE being dead last. I personally never code for or support IE based web code because of it's piss poor standards support while IE8 is better it's still dead last on supported standards. Use Opera or Chrome for best results on any anifics site.

Shrugs... Heard some complaints and issues on TFF from hardcore fans on 3.5.x. Saw a article in ZDNews about some issues, and a public request from the FireFox team for outside help debugging some stuff.

I never really cared too much that it was different, even if I think the interface a bit clunky. My problem was sites not working right when going to them, bookmark manager crashing on importing, it not handling straight HTML coding correctly causing me having to redo stuff that worked in Opera and IE...

Of course, there are some things that are the fault of sites, not the browser. OneManga I consider dreadful, as I have issues almost every time going to it no matter the browser, and the issues are different depending on browser, but they are there.

Personal experience, FireFox is slower than IE as well. Both in loading, and in browsing.

On the plus side, my experience with Firefox under Linux was trouble free. So I believe their issues as of that Linux experience, were merely on the Windows version. Go figure.

3.0.4 was the last straw for me, and I gave up on it. I'll stick with Opera as my backup. Less buggy overall than FireFox, and more stable. Almost as fast as IE.

In any case, no one issue caused me to suddenly declare FireFox bad, IE great, and thus ditch it. My issues were caused by multiple instances over a long time, across versions from 1.5 x to 3.0.x.

It is offputting to me to see everyone praising it basically as the app of the century, and demonizing IE, when my own experience does not bear it out in any way shape or form.

Shrugs... in the end, as previously stated by me, to each their own.

Merc, I love the logos.

Incidentally, sorry for being a nazi about the Nominations posting format. Chalk it up to my OCPD.

Sol: I love the avatar.

Replacement option for the "Default Member Avatar" for new members:

[img]http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9505/anifics.jpg[/img]

Figured we should have something more anime-esque than the default member-phoenix avatar. =p

Edit: Another logo option:

[img]http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/7307/anificslogob.png[/img]

Wasn't sure if I liked it more with or without a border around the image, so I put both options. =p

Re: Anifics Debugging And Comments

Thoughts:

Can you make it so global announcements stop appearing in -every- forum after, I dunno, a week (that seems reasonable, I think)? It's kind of annoying to see them all over the place, bumping everything down when the global announcement is over a month old. And as you keep adding more global announcements, it keeps getting pushed further and further.

We already have -four- threads going on as global announcements. Three of which are dead, and the fourth is just general threadjacking amusement.

I'm of the opinion that there shouldn't be more than one global announcement up at a time, or better yet, none at all as the point of a global announcement is to make an important announcement, and ensure the forum viewer sees it. If you have 4+ globals up, you stop making them valuable and instead just make forum browsing a pain.

I mean, just look at the Everyday Works forum, for example. One relevant thread almost hidden amongst all the NON-relevant stuff. Sure, as more threads show up, the less horrible it looks....at least until more global announcements are made to clutter things.

After something like a week, a global announcement should really be down-ranked to a normal announcement thread.

Re: Anifics Debugging And Comments

Hi all,

First post and all that, but I was just wondering if I was the only one who got an XML document error when I clicked on the site map from the homepage?

The error message is: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

I'm using Firefox 3.6.6, I also tested it with IE 8, Seamonkey 2.0.5 and Google Chrome 5.0.375.99 to make sure it wasn't anything to do with the Firefox problems mentioned above by PCHeintz.

I did a quick search through this thread and didn't see anything about sitemap, so just was wondering.

Is this only happening to me?

Thanks, and great site!

EDIT: Whoa, sorry about this, JUST realized the last post in this thread was from December last year. Sorry!

Re: Anifics Debugging And Comments

Hmmm... I get it too... looking at the code, it seems it is set up more as a pure XML document than a actual HMTL link page, which is probably the issue. So pretty much any browser on any OS is likely to get similar results unless they interpret standard code in a different way.

The links inside the document itself seem to work fine, tested a couple of them, and downloaded a couple of the pictures some were linked to that I liked... in fact, if you downloaded the file and placed it into a XML Editer with active hotlinking, it would likely be able to work fine. Which of course is not what is supposed to be occuring.

I do not think I've ever gone to it. Thus why I never mentioned anything.

This is likely more up Hraefn's ability to fix than mine, as while I'm a programmer/developer by profession, I'm not really a web developer. I'd have to examine other portions of the site to back engineer how it is supposed to be, which is more work than I have time for at the moment.

Re: Anifics Debugging and Comments

The IcyPhoenix-generated sitemap seems to be geared more towards search engines than for human visitors. Making it human-readable should be a simple matter of using CSS to style the sitemap. Unless you really need it, though, I'd rather put that on the back burner for a bit as I'd like to focus on other projects that I feel are more important, such as a new site design just for Anifics (which, incidentally, will also include a sitemap "fix" now that I know about the problem). :)

Why a new site design? I'm fine with the current one.

Nothing wrong with the current one, really, just that it's so generic. Heck, it even still has the Icy Phoenix logo. That said, this is really just me trying to see if I can do it. :)

*coughs* Well, that's really you guys' own fault. I posted some logos as options (this very thread/page even), and if someone told me what they wanted, I'd gladly make it too.

Ehhh... I'm all for plain and simple defaults unless it is hard on the eyes or something is broke (like sitemap :) )... To me, change for the sake of change is change for the wrong reasons...

That being said, if everyone agrees to change the logo... I've no issue as long as it stays safe for work. I do not go on during my work hours or from my work place period, they monitor the connections, and many sites are blocked anyway, but that does not mean others don't.

I like your logos and icons, actually. The problem is that unlike where the ranks are stored, which was easy to find, I never did locate where the Site logo is, and dunno how to change the Fonts. I'm Sure Hraefn could do it, but I don't know if she has FTP access to the site's folder.

Actually, Hraefn, could you change those for us?

Quick hack, but the logos have been replaced with Merc's samples. They *should* show up randomly. I've also realized that IcyPhoenix has a horrible, [i]horrible[/i] template system. >_<

Not sure what you mean when you mentioned fonts, though. What fonts? :?

Re: Anifics Debugging And Comments

Hrm...the two gundam logos didn't get cut very well around the borders apparently. Some visible white dots that weren't noticeable when I posted them, but are on the blue backdrop. The green border of the third logo doesn't go well with the blue backdrop either, although the borderless version seems to go alright.

Still feels like there's a lot of empty space there on the blue blackdrop, so we'd probably want a logo that uses that space better. And the gundam logos are probably better as link icons than title logos.
